Project Overview
The Tamworth Mental Health Hospital redevelopment delivered a new purpose built mental health facility designed to provide contemporary inpatient and outpatient services within a secure and therapeutic environment.
Delivered by Hansen Yuncken, the project forms part of the NSW Government’s investment in regional health infrastructure, strengthening mental health services across the New England region. The facility incorporates inpatient units, consultation and treatment rooms, staff and administration areas, and landscaped outdoor spaces designed to support recovery and wellbeing.
Scope of Works (Cleaning)
• Internal builder’s clean of inpatient units, bedrooms with ensuites, clinical rooms and administration areas.
• Detailed final clean of treatment rooms, nurse stations, secure areas and specialist mental health facilities.
• High detail cleaning of anti ligature fixtures, glazing, joinery, compliant health grade surfaces and specialist fittings.
• Cleaning of communal areas including lounges, dining spaces and internal courtyards.
• External cleaning of façades, glazing and surrounding hard landscaping prior to handover.
• Staged cleaning aligned with commissioning inspections and health authority sign off requirements.
Challenges & Solutions
• Mental health facilities require strict compliance with health standards, infection control protocols and secure design requirements. Cleaning methodologies were tailored to suit clinical grade finishes and anti ligature installations.
• The regional location required structured workforce planning, supervision and logistics coordination to maintain programme timeframes.
• Multiple staged inspections required disciplined sequencing and responsive re cleans to ensure all areas met commissioning and compliance standards prior to handover.
Outcome
The final clean supported successful completion and handover of the Tamworth Mental Health Hospital redevelopment.
